EPT Barcelona 2011 Final Table

Martin Schleich has taken the victory at the PokerStars European Poker Tour main event in Barcelona, Spain, after winning against the local hero Dragan Kostic in the heads-up. The German player has taken home €850,000 in prize money for his victory.

Although Eugene Katchalov started the day of the last position by the chip count, he was able to double up early on, increasing his shances to get the triple crown. But his dreams were shattered by the champoion of the tournament eliminating him in the third place for €315,000 in prize money.

Martin Schleich had a great torunament. He started on day 1a taking the chip lead at the end of the day. He had some troubles on day 3 finishing in the second place from behind, but was able to come back on day 4 and finish the day in the 5th position on the final table. After eliminating Eugene Katchalov, he was up against Dragan Kostic heads up with a 1.75-to-1 chip advantage. Kostic was able to closen up the chip advantage but he was eliminated shortly afterwards with a weaker kicker. He took home the €532,000 consolidation prize for the second place.

The next stop of the PokerStars European Poker Tour will be in London at the end of september.

EPT Barcelona 2011 Day 4

The final table has been set in less than four hours on day 4 of the 2011 PokerStars European Poker Tour main event in Barcelona, Spain. Tomeu Gomila has kept his chip lead, being able to triple his chip count, having more than two million in chips than his closest opponent Saar Wilf.

Tomeu Gomila is holding more than twice the average chip count with 6,985,000 in chips, while the second placed Saar Wilf and the third placed Raul Mestre are the only ones with more the average chip count with 4,555,000 and 4,260,000 in chips, respectively.

Although Martin Schleich, the chip leader of day 1a, had only 77,000 in chips, being the second player from behind in the chip count, he was able to win a great amount of chips, finishing the day in the fifth place with 2,260,000 in chips. Team PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov will try to defend the PokerStars honor on the final table, as he is the only one left of the team with 690,000 in chips, in the last place though.

Poker in the Park – London

Poker in the Park V will be held on september the 2nd and 3rd on the Hanover Square in London. The event will feature many free tuition and lectures from world greatest poker players and teachers, including Neil Channing, Sam Trickett and JP Kelly.

Although the name of the event is Poker in the Park, besides various Sit and Go tournaments, visitors will also be able to learn about chess, backgammon and mah-jong. There will also be tournaments for the various game, and the mah-jong tournament is said to be the biggest ever held in United Kingdom.

PokerStars has announced its own stage on the festival, where music will be played by tge Swinging little band and magicians will show their skill with the card, showing various tricks to the visitors.

There will also be a main stage, where the annual British Poker Award will be held. Lucy Porter will be the host of the show where a charity will be held for Peace and Sport. The auction will include shirt from Arsenal and Barcelona, both signed by their respective teams.

Poker in the Park will be a great opportunity for all aspiring players to get some free education and meat dome of the pokers biggest names.

EPT Barcelona 2011 Day 3

On day 3 of the 2011 PokerStars European Poker Tour main event in Barcelona, Spain, the starting field of 141 players has been reduced to the final 24 players. Twenty one players were not able to finish in the money, as the money bubble burst with the elimination of Jeffrey Hakim in the 121th place.

Many notable playeres were not able to finish the day with at least €8,000 in their pockets including Ivan Demidov, Andre Barroco, Leo Fernandez and Chris Moorman.

Leading the field of 24 survivors is Tomeu Gomila with 2,543,000 in chips, followed by Raul Mestre with 2,363,000 in chips. The two players were also the only ones to breache the two million mark. The chip leader ater day 2, Xavier Carruggi, finished the day in the 14th position with 542,000 in chips while Guillaume Darcourt, the chip leader of day one was eliminated just short of the final 24.

Other notable players who were not able to finish the day, but went home with a piece of the prize pool, were Vanessa Selbst, Tobias Reinkemeier, Filippo Candio, Martin Jacobson and Victor Ramdin.

PokerStars has been announced as the lead sponsor for the main stage at Poker in the Park. Paysafecard is the sponsor for the bar at the festival.

Malta And LockPoker In Dispute
The Maltese Lotteries and Gaming Authority is denying any relationship with the online poker site, LockPoker. The organization made the announcement in response to the website, LockPoker.eu, displaying the LGA logo. Lock Poker’s license is currently issued by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, though the network it runs on, the Merge Gaming Network, does have a Category 4 license with the LGA.

Greece Wants Gambling Taxes
The Greek Financial Police and Electronic Crimes Squad has been formed to help find tax evaders, including those drawing their revenues from gambling. The police estimate that the country misses out on €2 billion in turnover from online gambling, with many online gamblers avoiding taxes.

European Poker Tour Barcelona 2011 Day 2
Day two of the main event of the European Poker Tour event in Barcelona, Spain is set to begin. 407 of the total starting field of 811 remain. Guillaume Darcourt is the current chip leader with a stack of 195,300. The 811 entrants generated a total prize pool of €4,055,000, making it the largest live poker tournament event ever in Spain.
