E! Hollywood Hold’em is a weekly poker television series on the E! Network. This show is known to be a mix of Hollywood Home Game and the MTV Cribs. This series offers fun and challenge of the exciting Texas Hold’em game but also offers a glimpse on the lives of Hollywood celebrities of today. In each series, different homes of celebrities are being featured.
The show starts when Phil Laak, host and dealer of the game, approaches the door of one of Hollywood’s finest. The home of this celebrity will be featured just like in MTV Cribs. The house is usually toured such as bedrooms, the pool and the kitchen. They may even open the refrigerator and show the contents of the refrigerator.
Some poker aficionados do not feel comfortable about this but then, it is quite neat to take a glimpse about the lives of these celebrities. Depending on your palate, this show can be quite a welcome addition to your television viewing.
After the tour of the celebrity’s home, the part of the show would be to feature the poker tournament venue. Before the game starts, Phil usually introduces the players and gives the viewers a little background about each player on the table.
Mostly, there will be two celebrities and two more not so famous personalities on the tournament table. As the game progresses Phil would make comments, advices and discuss what is happening on the table. Of course, he does not do this during the hand but in some cases, he cannot help himself.
Likewise, during the game, you will be able to watch how players on the table actually talk to each other. Some do trash talking may be not like Phil Hellmuth would. Some do serious discussion on what is happening in the game.
The tournament structure in this show is usually a freeze-out structure. The winner will be taking home the grand prize of $10,000 cash. There are also be increments as the game progresses but the increments are usually slower than what happens in live poker tournaments.
The insights that you will get from this show will be quite important especially when you would like to progress from a television show viewer to a poker player. The insights are usually helpful and explained in detail.
