Deuce to Seven Draw

The Deuce to Seven Draw Poker or Lowball Poker is one of the many variants of Draw Poker. In Deuce to Seven Draw, the best hand a player can form is the 2, 3, 4, 5, 7. In this draw poker variant, cards that are not suited have the highest probability of winning the game.

Pairs, trips and flush do not fair well in this game. Likewise, Ace plays high card in Deuce to Seven Draw.

Number of Players in Deuce to Seven draw

2 to 6 players can play this game. Any player in excess of 6 players may be able to draw any other card and thus, it is necessary that players will only be up to six players.

Rules of the Deuce to Seven Draw

• The highest hand a player can form is 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 not suited. A suited poker hand do not fair well in this game.

• Players are dealt full hand with option to draw up to three cards to improve their hand. Players’ drawing cards will have to discard the same number of cards and the dealer will replace those cases with new once.

• The game is usually played with blinds. The small blind bets half of the minimum bet and the big blind bets the minimum.

• This game is can be played with fixed limit, pot limit and no-limit betting structure.

• There are only two betting rounds in this case. However, in other variation especially in casinos called double-draw and triple-draw variation where three to four betting rounds will happen.

• The lowest poker hand wins the pot.

How Deuce to Seven Draw is played

1. Dealer shuffles the cards. Usually, the dealer cuts the deck somewhere in the middle. In other cases, he requests the player seated on this left to cut the deck.

2. Before the dealer draws cards, the small blind, the player on the left of the dealer posts half of the minimum bet. Then, the big blind, the player on the left of the small blind posts the minimum bet.

3. The dealer then distributes five cards to each players starting from the player in his left.

4. After this, the player will check their cards and the drawing starts.

5. Players may discard up to three cards and be dealt with fresh new cards. Then the second betting round begins.

6. After this, the showdown happens. The best low hand wins the pot.

The best hand in lowball poker such as Deuce to seven Draw is 2, 3, 4, 5, 7 unsuited. Suited cards count as high hand and therefore may not have good chance of winning the pot.
